The production Porsches with a mid engine config are the 914- 4, 914-6, and
the Boxster family. Porsche has had a lot of race cars that were mid
engine, starting with the 550 Spyder, and going on through the
904/906/908/910/917/936/962 programs. The current vintage GT-1's are really
a mid engine design, as well.

Someone in the UK put together a twin engine A2 Golf, with one 16V motor in
the usual place, and another where the rear seat used to be.
I know of one local tuner that has considered putting a VR6 in the middle of
an A1 Scirocco, with either rear wheel, or Syncro drivetrain.

Right. 150 hp, stock.

The 4Motion VR6 is supposed to be an all alloy 24 valve, with 204 hp.
