Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to just replace the headbolts 
and not worry about it. FYI, the reason I decided to remove the 
head was to get a good inspection on the valves, guides, and 
cylinders, but also because I was unable to break the friction 
between the valve spring hats and retainers. I pumped over 100psi 
into the cylinders and it just wouldn't happen.  I even tried putting a 
soft poly rope down the cylinder and rotating it to TDC to keep the 
valves open, but no luck. But now I'll know for sure just what kinda 
shape the motor is in. It was only a few more bolts for the head to 
come off anyways.
