I'm looking to replace my clutch cable (non self adj.) on my 88 16V, It failed Friday night on my way home (no date involved..unless Chinese takeout with the wife counts), But I was able to limp home without it (pedal was much stiffer than normal and would not engage clutch). Any ways how important is the rubber grommet, none of the local parts places have it in stock and they seem to think that it is not really necessary. Mine is broken into several pieces and doesn't look like it will serve much purpose if I put it back on. Before I go and have it special ordred I wanted to know if I could do without it or if anyone had a home grown replacement. Thanks,

        Brian
