Hey everyone. Just sitting here working things out for my 2L swap and thinking about the motor mounts, and how expensive decent ones are (for a VW anyhow). I was wondering, since I have all of the materials and resources necessary to do so, how hard would it be to make a set of motor mounts (the brackets that bolt to the motor and tranny) that would fit on the new motor, and use a different kind of motor mounts, like from another brand of car. Would it be a worthwhile thing to do? I have a welder, some steel, the capability, etc. What kind of car would I use the mounts out of? I will be doing auto-x'ing every weekend this summer, and the motor is going to put out about 170-180 hp at the crank when it's put into the car.
OR, for an even better idea, if someone designed some new brackets made out of aluminum or something of the likes, what would be the possibility of getting a machine shop to make a set for anyone on the list that wanted them?
