I've know the bearings of my 140k mile old alternator have seen better days, but as output has been fine I've been putting off the inevitable. Well, today it literally began to shoot sparks. I did some calling around and found two types of rebuilt versions are available: Bosch ($200) and non-Bosch ($75). Both have lifetime warrantees.
I've always believed the German stuff to be of better quality, etc., and as a rule of thumb, that's all I use. But damn, why the $130 difference??? What do you all recommend? Has anyone tried the Autozone-type rebuilds? I need the car to be roadworthy by Monday morning, rapid responses would be much appreciated!
