Check this sight for the odometer fix. http://user.icx.net/~penclnck/
I've been also told that if the plastic gear is the one that's slipping it's
better to enlarge the opening and use epoxy instead of crazy glue. HTH.

Subject: Hello and a few questions

Hello all. I just bought an 88 GTI 16V with ~150k miles on it. I plan to
autocross it and use it as a daily driver etc. I have a few questions:

1. The odometer currently is not working. The speedo works fine. Are the
internal parts to these available anywhere or should I have a speedometer shop
work on it? If the answer is speedometer shop, can any old one do it?

2. Regarding an autocross setup, I would like to stay in the Stock class so I
can't do anything really radical except springs and shocks. Any advice here? I
was considering Eibachs and Konis on all 4 corners and will be running Kuhmos on
a spare set of stock 14" rims.

Thanks in advance,
Brian
