Assuming what you hit was actually in motion, almost all basic insurance
will cover it w/ no deductable, just as if a stone went through the
windshield...moving objects (rocks, ladders, tires, animals, children, etc)
are usually a non-deductable claim while solid objects and other cars are
usually a bigger deal. My mommy used to work for State Farm and has helped
me weasel out of a number of repairs. State farm even covered an illegal
H4 lamp and bulb after a stone went through my lense. A good insurance
agent is a wonderful thing to have. People don't seem to take full
advantage of their insurance. For example, mine covers jump starting and
tow trucks, too. I was able to recover the money for a 170 mile tow after
a timing belt broke. For a week or two my car would die every couple of
days due to some electrical glitch, and I had it jump started by a tow
truck a total of 5 times, all of which were covered. And no, my premium
didn't go up. I've basically recovered more from my insurance in little
claims than I wind up paying out...almost.

Repeat these words after me, "It was moving when I hit it," and "if people
didn't need to file all these claims, insurance companies would go broke."
