I've had a similar rattling exhaust since last weekend. Last weekend I rebuilt the shifter. Since I had to drop the exhaust to get at it, I assume I didn't get it back together exactly correctly. The rattling is pretty loud from inside the car when I first start it up, and I can kind of "feel" it around the parking brake. I haven't had a chance to get under there to see if something obvious is wrong. The sound gradually goes away as I drive. By the time I get to work, it's gone. Anyone have any ideas where I should start looking? On a similar note, my car has also been making a grumbling noise since I got it in November. I kind of had a suspicion that it was the exhaust, and now I'm almost certain because it got worse since I messed with the exhaust. It used to only happen when I had either someone in the back seat, or if the car was loaded down with stuff, but now it happens all the time. During acceleration (like from a stop) it makes a pretty low grumbling sound. And if I go over a bump, you can hear it get louder has the car sags during its response to the jolt. I'm open to suggestions here too.
