I'm positive the 205/50-15 will rub on my Golf. My friend has a '92 Jetta GTX with the same wheels as yours and it rubs on 205/50-15 with the stock suspension.

Either he's carrying a lot of weight, the springs are sagging, or the shocks are worn out; those tires on a stock suspension shouldn't rub.(unless they're mounted on 8" wide rims!) As I've said many times before, I have no trouble with 205/50-15s and a lowered suspension; YMMV, or course, but remember the original stock tire for the GTI 16V was 205/55-14.

Also...how wide are those BBS wheels? They're probably 15x6.5 right? If so i'd stick with the 195. A 6.5" rim won't stretch the 205s nicely and they'll end up "ballooning".

My 205/50-15's are mounted on 15x7 rims, but the design wheel width for the tire (PZero) is 6.5"; that's straight from the Pirelli fitment chart. Some people like the look of a 'stretched' tire, but there is no performance drawback to mounting a 205mm tire on at 6.5" rim, only aesthetic.
