I agree totally w/ Tom.  Drop the damned SUVs, minivans, and F+++ trucks only carrying ONE FREAKIN' person most of the time.  Carpool, buy a Civic (that's what they r good for, running on rice, right??), or just get off their lazy asses and walk or, God forbid, ride a bike!!

I do my part.  I've lived on campus for the past 5 yrs and used the bus system as much as possible.  I drive small, compact cars that get relatively good MPG, and I'm moving into the city so I wont have to drive to the bars!!! ;-)

    Just my .02 + a little extra for the coffee pool....

PS- W. NY area is $1.75 for 89, 1.8? for 92
