I re-glued my headliner some years back. Actually I did it twice. (Don't use 3M 777) I pulled off the saggy liner and then removed the molded backing. The sun roof area is very fragile so be careful. On the second attempt I used Vinyl base adhesive and applied it with a scalloped trowel to the backing and carefully positioned the headliner over the adhesive and pressed. Before gluing I cleaned the decomposed foam (and the failed 777) the best I could with paint thinner and a rag. I washed the head liner with laundry detergent and water after the thinner. I had more trouble getting the 777 off than any thing else. After gluing, I let the headliner assembly dry for a couple of days before putting back in. That was in 1996 It is still is holding up nicely. Except for the tears I inflicted at the sun roof corners, you can't tell it has been re-glued.
