Just a caveat from recent repair of 89 GTi:

Don't bother with the dealer unless they have old stock on hand. My local
dealer had the four door liners, nice molded foam and preinstalled adhesive
strips. So...ordered one for 2 door. When it came in after two tries and a
week or so, it was roll of ~3mm black foam (PE?). I said no thanks for $19.
Home Despot only had 6mil film in big rolls ~10'x100'. Went to local
flooring store and was given the small amount of 6mil green-tinted film.
Used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive and some clear mylar packing tape for odds
and ends. Would have been nicer if I hadn't trashed old one after ordering
new one (use old as template for new)

What did you use to glue it to the door panel. I
remember a picture of the how-to-install. It looked
good.
