a local shop quoted me less than 100 dollars on knock sensor replacement

, is this accurate?

My idle screw was loose. However, every once in a while it will exhibit the same symptoms. I am going to replace the vacuum hoses which I think are bad and then see what happens.

I would rather try that than replace the knock sensor ($$$). If only I had the time to work on my car...

Did you guys ever figure this out? When I reset my idle, it was like
putting a bandage on an artery -- it was all right for a while, but now once every few days I have to restart my car at a stoplight to get the idle back
up.

Jorge said this:
John,

My money is on the knock sensor control unit. When it starts acting up
again, try switching the ignition off then quickly back on. If it starts
running ok, you found your problem. HTH.

What did you guys end up doing?
