I'd like to see it. I like the figure-it-out-yourself stuff like that...

  Subject: 160mph Scirocco Speedo Installed

Today I had enough time to put the 160 scirocco speedo I bought off of ebay
in my car. No major install issues, buts its pretty cool looking down and see
a less cluttered speedo (20 mph increments vs the regular 10mph) and seeing 160
is pretty nice. Also, the speedo starts at 10mph (not zero like most other
clusters), so the needle doesnt move at all until you are doing at least 10mph.
Too bad the car could probably only do 135 or so (0.75 fifth gear) but I guess
that's not the point of it.
  Anyway, a few points:

  - The rocco speedo (out of an 87 Scirocco) doesn't have a MFA. Obviously, I
didnt want to loose my trip computer, so I ended up swapping the speedo itself
into my existing cluster. I had originally planned to just swap clusters,
without taking apart my original cluster. Also, the 160 speedo did not have
the speed sensor like my 140 had, so I had to cut some plastic and add that as
well (for the mpg and other features to work)

  - I installed a new speedo cable as well. My old cable was a two piece type,
with the black box mileage counter in between. I went with a one piece cable,
as the two piece cables are not available any more (AFAIK). What a pain in the
neck it is to get that speedo cable attached to the back of the cluster.

  - Lastly, now that the oxygen sensor mileage counter is gone (black box), I
came up with an idea. Being that I now have an LED in my cluster that won't be
used (the center light on early 16vs is labeled 'OXS'), I thought about what I
could use it for. Well, for some time now, my full throttle switch
intermitently worked. I have the TT Fuel Enrichment, so sometimes I wasn't
even getting the benefit of it. Now, I have a lead from the full throttle
switch connected (with a relay, to reverse the ground) directly to that center
LED in the dash. I added the relay, and tapped into the lead from the OXS
mileage counter plug (didn't have to cut any wires at all, all was done under
the hood) When the throttle is fully opened now, I get a LED on the dash
letting me know. The red LED bothered me, so I put a yellow one in from an
extra cluster I had laying around. I also scanned in the little piece of metal
with the 5 icons (turn signal, alternator, oxs, oil pres, highbeams) into
photoshop, and add the Techtonics Tuning logo in place of the OXS. Printed out
on a good laser printer, glued it, looks awesome. Definitely useful as an
indicator light. I will probably take some pics tommorrow, so if anyone is
interested, let me know.
