I'm wondering what your estimates of cost will be to chuck the 2.0 16v and
go 1.8T?

You certainly must be aware that to get 300 HP at the wheels will take major
(read expensive) modifications to the 1.8t motor.

If any of you were at the New Dimensions show and saw the two 1.8t
Sciroccos, those are great examples of both extremes of 1.8t install. The
Black MKII was built by Momentum at a cost of close to 10K and with the
exception of all the teeth rounding off third gear, has been very reliable
and is ass puckeringly fast. The Silver MkI built by ? shop back east was
much more thrown together at a similar cost but breaks every couple hundred
miles. The owner freely admits that more time and money should have been
spent making sure every aspect of the install was accomplished with
reliability instead of HP in mind.

Additionally, bear in mind that 300HP is nowhere near possible from the
stock motor. Your talking about custom manifolds, injectors, fuel pressure
regulator, T-3 or larger turbo, custom DP, larger intercooler, 70mm
throttle body and engine management........ad infinitum.

Keep us up to date on the progress. It would be great if you can document
the building of the motor and put it up on a website as it comes together.

Good Luck
