I am actually about to start prepping myself a new engine to slap a turbo on. 
 The bottom end will be based on a 1.8L 16V block, as shorter-throw engines 
spin up faster, allowing the turbo to spool faster.  Compression ratio will 
be in the area of 7.5:1 or 8:1, with ~15 lbs of boost.  Should be more than 
enough to make about 250 wheel horsepower.
