I had a similar problem with a clutch I put into my '88. One of the 3 black straps on the back of the pressure plate broke, causing alot of noise when the clutch was disengaged(pedal pushed in). Kinda sounded like a bolt rolling around inside the bellhousing. Sachs did have some production problems as of late, but to the best of my knowledge, they have been corrected.
