Yes, yes this is OT, but it's a hellva lot more on topic than recent
threads.

I was at a locally used car dealer today and stumbled upon a '91 Audi 100
for sale. It has 179,xxx miles, auto, power everything, interior is dirty
as hell, but no rips/tears, and sunroof. I tried all the power items and
they all worked. It's got the 5 cylinder engine. No rust on the body.
Paint is dull, could probably be brought back to life w/some TLC. Color is
that pearlized silver. Car is from Michigan originally. Don't know the
service history yet, the dealer is working on getting that for me. I didn't
take it on the road, but it started (has been sitting for a while) and idled
ok. Idle was a bit lumpy, but I'm guessing it needs a basic tune up. I'm
going to drive it tomorrow.

Seller wants 3 grand for it. It's been around for a while, gone to auto
auction twice and didn't fetch what the dealer wanted so it came home. What
do u current/former Audi guys think about this? I'm looking at it for a
winter car. My only concerns are that it's big and an auto which means it
will suck gas. Is that true? If I can get this thing for under 2 grand and
provided its in good mechanical condition, is this a good deal? Any advice,
stories, wisdom on the model Audi is appreciated.

  TIA,

        Renard
