I have an 85 Quantum POS that my daughter cruises around in which has the same motor. It is really reliable but if something does break it is a total pain in the ass to repair. Especially in the front of the engine. Since it is inline there is not much clearance for changing timing belt, water pump etc. Plus it has a 27mm crank bolt holding pulleys on also - not fun. The auto trans has not been a problem but it definately feels like a fat "slush box" when driving.
