Wonder if you folks could help with a small problem I am now experiencing? I
have an 1989 Jetta GTX and today it starting giving me problems. It started
but would then buck and hesitate. A couple of times it would completely die
on me. I thought at first it was water in the distributor (been raining here
quite a bit), but I noticed something odd when I went out to look again.
With the key completely out of the ignition you can hear the fuel pump
sounding like it is going. I pulled the fuse and then it shuts off. I know
this is not normal as the pump is only supposed to run with the key turned
forward. Does this mean the pump has finally given up the ghost? If so, how
do I manage to nurse enough fuel into it to get it to the shop?

Thanks for any help.
