Sounds like an electrical problem elsewhere to me...  I dont care what the 
condition of the pump is in,...if its power is cut off upstream, no power = no 
pumping.  For some reason it is getting power when it shouldnt.  The electrical 
systems on Vws behave strangly when they get old and worn, especially the ign 
key.  My old GLI would honk the horn when I turned the key every once in a 
while.  It was strange....  everything worked fine though.... go figure.... -
