They said it couldn't (shouldn't) be done but last
night I changed the color of the lighting in my MFA
display.  
   Obviously you need to be REALLY careful.  
   I pulled the circuit board, removed 2 screws from
the top and 2 from the bottom and lifted the white
plastic frame.  Now we see the top of the LCD.  Gently
take an x-acto type knife and gently pry up the bottom
of the black rubber circuit connector from the board. 
Once you get a few spots freed up go to the other
side.  Do not remove the rubber connector from the LCD
itself.  Once freed up the LCD (with the 2 rubber
connectors) will lift off.  Now you will see the green
filter. Remove this and replace with one in the
desired color (I used a color tab from a loose leaf
divider).
   It is actually not that hard, especially if you've
taken the cluster apart before. (Sigh; who hasn't?)
   If you're shy try this with a broken cluster first.
