Don't know about the 8V but the 2.0 Motronic ('90-'92) is the exact same
body but it opens both valves at the same time whereas the 1.8 opens in 2
stages. The 1.8 has 2 throttle position switches, full throttle and idle;
the 2.0 has an idle switch and a variable resistor (potentiometer) for
throttle position. The 1.8 has an idle adjustment screw , 2.0 doesn't. My
2.0 with CIS E idles a lot better with the 1.8 body but the response might
not be as quick as with the 2.0 (maybe that's just suggestion). I haven't
tweaked anything yet I'm still trying to get everything to spec.
That's probably more info than you were looking for.
Let us know how the tweaks go.

Subject: RFI: Throttle body

Quick question.

What other throttle bodies are compatible to the one on my '88 GTI? Is it
the same as a 8v, or maybe the later ones on the '90-92 16v?

My machinist wants to do some tweaking for me.

Thanks,

Robert Foster
