Mark,

I would replace the fuel lines from the filter to the front of the car and
from the filter to the accumulator. Esp. if they look rusty. I sprung a
leak in one of mine recently b/c it was so rusted. The one that runs to the
front of the car is ~$60. The one that runs to the accumulator is ~$40. U
can get them from Potterman, but they r the same price as the dealer.

I was going to replace the lines myself, but when I saw how rusted the nut
was at the accumulator, I took it to a pro. What he ended up doing was
removing the accumulator from it's holder and hitting that nut w/an impact
gun. Those accumulators are expensive, so if u aren't 100% confident in
doing this, it might be $ in the bank to have a pro do it. I replaced my
filter, too, but if yours is relatively fresh, u r good to go.

Don't forget to put fresh washers on everywhere.

Just my .02 from my recent experience....

        Renard

Subject: Leaky Fuel Pump Housing: Please Help

Hey Guys,
I think I'm going to bite the bullet and replace the fuel pump housing (fuel
box) on my 91 Jetta GTX 16V. The leak is comming from around the fuel pump.

Are there any other parts I should replace while I'm there?
-Fuel Pump Seal
-Fuel Lines
-Rubber Mounts
-Fuel Filter is new
am I missing anything?

Is there a sure-fire way to get the rusted fuel lines off the accumulator
without damaging the accumulator?

Has anyone ever performed this repair?
Any advice from anyone?

Thanks,
Mark Reda.
