VDO Gauges

Any info on buying/installing aftermarket gauges would help.
I had in mind:
VDO Vision gauges (opinions?) oil pressure 80 psi,  later I'd add an amp
gauge and possibly voltmeter( if it fits)
What I don't have any info on is what sender to use, buy one? which? use the
existing? is the existing just a switch for the light?
Where's the best place to mount them.
