The recaro SRD's, as well as a lot of other aftermarket seats, have integrated headrests. That makes this type of mounting impossible. I like rob's idea, and I think that it wouldn't be too tough to fab up a mount. It could be as easy as using some hinges for the lower seat mounts, welded or bolted to some square stock, with another bar going back to the bolts for the seatbelts or center seat mounts. A2 golfs only have seatbelt bolts in the center there, and since A3's do too you could make a "universal" mount that fit both.
