I agree, I have them on my Audi and am going to get them for the VW as soon as
I have some extra $$. the DOT thing is a little crazy, in order for a brake
line to be DOT approved it has to be crimped together so that it can not be
taken appart. which means that lines that are assembled such as earls or
aeroquipe (sp?) which use some sort of compression fitting that can be un-done
do not meet DOT spec regardless of how much pressure they can hold. These are
the same wonderful people that said "aerolights" could not be used until 1986
etc..

SS brake lines are worth the cost. Their immediate value is that
they provide a very firm brake pedal b/c the lines cannot swell like
rubber hoses. In the long run, b/c the lines cannot swell, you won't
encounter an exploding brake line at "the wrong time". You may want
to look for DOT approval although I'm not sure what that entails.
Otherwise SS brake lines are all mostly the same.
