I just put my car back together (new water pump, timing belt, got rid of that god awful idler pulley, oil cooler, low temp thermostat, etc etc) and I bumped up my ignition timing while I was in there. WOW! I forgot how much of a difference it makes. My car is peaky as is (1.8, eurocam, 50mm), so putting the timing at about 12 degrees really brought the car to life. It was just above the stock setting of 6 before, and it really made a huge difference in how the car feels.
