Hey guys,
A bunch of my friends and I decided that yesterday night would be a not
so busy day at the dragstrip, so we went. We were really wrong about the
busy thing, cuz there was about a billion people there and we all only got 2
runs in each. My omni is out of commision with a bad fuel pump, so I ran my
Jetta. All of my friends managed to break at least 13s in their imports,
one of them a 13.8 in a 2000 Civic (watch out for that one). Well, the
Jetta performed alright. I launched hard and the best I could muster was a
19.1 @ 70mph with a 2.6 60' and a R/T of .6. I thought I wasn't gonna go
lower than a 20 sec E/T but i did. My second run was worse with a 19.4
because I bogged after a hard launch, but my trap speed was 72 mph. On my
first run I actually had a 2 car length jump on a 72 Dodge charger 440 who
ran a 13.3, but he quickly passed me. Anyway... this is good reason to make
you feel good that you have 8 more valves in your A2 than I do in my Jetta.
What kind of times do you 16v guys turn? Anybody else run an 8v at the
strip? I might take mine to a different track this weekend to see if I can
break 18's :)
