I wonder if there are any kits that will replace the H4 bulbs that many of
us have on our Jetta/GTI's for HIDs.
I remember there was a post way back that detailed how to convert a BMW to
HID using parts from a FORD Lincon for about $400US.
A guy I know has converted to HID on his 98 BMW 328 but only the outers are
converted to HID.
It looks kinda cheezy when the highs are on.

I did notice that BMW's HID beam is very focused, sharp and percise.
We all know that Hella and Bosch have a superior beam pattern to most other
lights for our cars.
If the HID lights were retro-fitted using the H4 reflector and lense (on our
cars) I don't think that the beam would be as sharp (but I'm sure that it
would put out lots of light).
I cannot comment on the quality of light comming out of Hella H4 7" rounds
because I don't have them on my car.
Can anyone comment on the quality of beam pattern for Hella H4's using
standard wattage and overwattage?

Hella also has some HID kits for the MK4 Golf and the Ford Focus but nothing
for our cars :(

Are there overwatt equivilants for HID systems? Imagine enough light to
light up a stadium!

Dunno how it works (i.e two beams) but given the manuf
- it will work and it will be "legit/legal".

Dunno about the beam pattern yet - as compared to
Hella "euro spec" H6054 lights.

Hmm - a closer read seems to indicate that the high
beam side is a traditional H3 bulb?

What is avail is the HID equivalent to the Hella Xl -
a low beam HID - the Xenarc® HID X1010 Auxiliary Low
Beam Kit.

In either case it seems easier than grafting on a BMW
headlight cluster....
