D'ya know how many miles I've put on my GTI the last 6 weeks? 250, all but about 50 was on one trip. Meanwhile, I've put about 600-700 on my bicycle. The GTI is running OK, just not spectacularly. The weird thing is... It runs good and makes decent power off idle. It idles OK. However, if you let it sit at idle for a minute (through a stoplight) it'll hesitate like crazy coming off idle. ie, hold down the gas and wait for it to do something. Usually it'll backfire, and then take off like a rocket.
If it only idles for a few seconds, it's fine. For some reason, if it sits at idle, it is running really rich. Very strange. Any idea how long a car has to run real rich before a catalyst goes bad or an O2 sensor gets too dirty to work? Even worse, the new TT exhaust's front resonator (it's a dual-resonator system) is buzzing like crazy on something down there. I HATE it.
