NO, the 272 will idle and run great, passes smog too :) Try it, you might be 
surprised.

      #1 is to swap in a 9A tranny, that will REALLY wake the car up. #2, 272* 
"G" grind cam.  Those 2 will make the car feel MUCH peppier.
