I am on a mission to make my 16v engine run smoothly. Last night I
replaced the alternator since the bearing were really shot in the old one.
That helped quite a bit, but there are still a couple noises or vibrations
I want to get rid of. Hoping you guys can help.

1. I press the clutch while the car is in gear and hear a slight rattle
anywhere from 1k rpm - 6k rpm. When I did this last night I was going
50-60 mph in 4th gear. I take the car out of gear and put it in neutral,
let out the clutch and the rattle is gone. If I press the clutch with the
trans in neutral the rattle is apparent again. Is this a throwout
bearing?

2. Near passenger side of the engine I hear a slight clicking that does
not depend on engine temp. I am guessing it has to be the lifters, but I
thought they were all replaced within 30k miles. I thought my old worn
out alternator was making the clicking, but it wasn't. Could this
clicking come from the tensioner? It is impossible to isolate.
