Extremely unlikely. The sad truth is that the catalytic convertors nowadays are very efficient, unlike the ones back in the early '80's.
The motor in question here was tuned within a whisker of streetability. It was a G60 motor with a ported head, match ported intake and exhaust manifolds, balanced and blueprinted, big front mounted intercooler, yada, yada, yada. It consistently put out 180hp and 185 ft lbs of torque, regardless of the dyno, weather etc. Believe me, the cat isn't costing you anything. -josh --- jw <[email protected]> wrote: > that doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a > difference between them. > > it could simply indicate that they weren't a > performance bottleneck in the > car being dyno'd- that there was a bigger > restriction somewhere else that > needed addressing before the (probably subtle, i'll > grant) difference > between those setups would be seen. > > sorry, gotta play devil's advocate every once in a > while... > > jw > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "josh Wyte" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, July 08, 2002 4:40 AM > Subject: Re: [A2-16v] Kent 258 cams - 2 reviews > > > > I've done a significant amount of dynoing with US > > downpipe/cat, US downpipe/hollow cat, headers/cat, > > headers/hollow cat and euro downpipe (no cat). > > According to the dyno they were all about the same > > statistically. > ===== Josh Wyte Momentum Motorsports 508-833-3024 After 5 pm EST __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
