well here is my long sad and boring story.
I have a 1988 VW GTI 16v that is in great shape dark red with black interior,
engine has about 120,000 miles on it runs great does not burn and oil or smoke,
timing belt replaced about 10,000 miles ago along with all the other belts. the
a/c has been converted to R134a and blows ice cold.the car has a new brake
master cylinder and the system has been flushed with ATE super blue. there is
also a remanufactured alternator in the car. it has new plugs and wires and one
new fuel injector. the car does not have a sunroof or power windows or locks
(would make a good track car) the body is in very good shape just a few small
dings, nothing major at all and as far as I know and can tell the car has never
been in an accident. the interior is in good shape there is some wear on the
left side of the drivers seat and the headliner cloth has been pulled down but
the backing is still there and in perfect shape. other than that the interior
is in very good shape.
now for the sad part, last december the tranny "blew up" on me, I went to a
junk yard abd purchased one from a jetta, well I took my time putting the thing
in and after driving it for about 100 miles it is making noise again as far as
I can tell it is comming from the differential. I do not want to take this
thing out again! and it is too late to get my money back on the tranny. also I
am moving in december and will not have the room for 3 cars so the VW has to go
as is. the car does drive but I would not want to go very far with it as the
noise does not sound good.
I am not sure what a car with a bad tranny is worth, I was thinking about
1,000$ which should be cheap enough to have the tranny replaced and still be
getting a good deal on the car, but I am open to any reasonable offer.
the car is located in Columbia South Carolina. I am going to try to borrow a
digital camera from a friend of mine to take some pictures if anyone is
interested.

thanks
