Dennis,

I've never heard the Blaupunkt speakers, but i've used the infinities. they
are a bit expensive, but not much. About the speakers in the back. I've
seen it done and it sounded ok but it was pain to deal with, and you loose
the stock look. What I did with my GTI was buy a Bazooka Base tube (that
has an amp built in). I got the 8" (cost approx. $300) and was VERY happy
with the sound. it added plenty of base so my other speakers could act as
the mid and highs. just turn the base down a little on the receiver and
turn up the base on the tube and you'll be happy. Plus, if you head to an
AutoX, just take the tube out and you're fine. It does take up a little bit
of room, but not much.

About the door speaker pockets, I have a pair but they do not have the
speaker covers. let me know if you are interested.

Eric

Subject: [A2-16v] Speaker questions

I was just looking into replacing the dash speakers and rear speakers in my
GTI. I want something decent but not too expensive. I found that blaupunkt
has what seems to be some pretty decent speakers at a good price. Does
blaupunkt make pretty good speakers, or would i be better going with
something else?
Once again i dont care for the best speakers i just want something decent to
replace my stock speakers.

Also has anyone put 6x9 speakers in the back of the GTI on the part that
lifts up when you open the hatch? I was thinking about doing this as the 4x6
in the back arent cutting it.

ohh and finaly does anyone know how much the door speaker pockets cost from
the dealer (or anywhere else that might have them). I have the storage
compartment ones and never really use them.
