Can anyone give me a quick rundown of what I need to replace this in tank
pump on my 90 Jetta? I am on vacation and want to replace the pump before
I make my trip home. Trying to pass some cars on my way here it would
hesitate if I tried to accelerate too much. I am gonna have a pump
shipped from adirondack using 2 day air most likely. What tools will I
need? What parts besides the pump itself? fuel hose?
Nothing to it, really. All you need is the new pump and a screwdriver.
There's three screws holding down the access hatch in the trunk. Once
that is off, you need to loosen two hose clamps and remove the two fuel
hoses, and disconnect the electrical harness. Then unscrew the big
circular fitting and pull the whole pump/level sender assembly out of
the tank. The pump just sort of slips off/on the assembly. Installation
is reverse of removal...
