I've gotten the glass from an old VW and glued it into the housing (once), and at least some of the precut mirrors are more-or-less "universal". They may not be identical to what was there, but it's a hell of an improvement over nothing! Double-faced tape may work as a mount; try for the very thin foam. Home improvement stores have it for mounting mirrors and bathroom fixtures, but most of it will handle outdoors as long as it's not in direct sunlight (UV). The glass part in my left mirror has always been wobbly, and today as i pulled out of the driveway it fell out and shattered into a couple hundred peices. So its time for a new mirror. The black plastic (i think, its really thin) backing for the glass is still on the mirror, so its really just the glass that fell out. What exactly do i need to get to replace this? I checked the local autoparts store and they sell precut mirrors for replacement, but they didnt make any for a '90 GTI (or any vw). Where can i order a new peice, and about how much would it be (hopefully not too much). Thanks in advance -Denis _______________________________________________ a2-16v-list mailing list [email protected] http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list For list archives, see listinfo link above.
