Competition for Toyota and Ford!?! Shame on you! The Lupo is a true hatch, not a "sport utility rocket" or a Ford POS. I'd say the regular Lupo is more closely related to other Euro cars.
The Lupo GTI, with its 1.6L 16v and 6 speed trans, is competing with BMW's Mini. There is a side by side comparison in the November issue of Performance VW (available at B&N for $8). They say it was a close call but if you want style go with the Mini and if you want performance get the Lupo.
