- 8V motors run a lot cooler.  My 8V cars never got above 220.  But from all 
the 16V's I've owned/driven/worked on, 210-230 is normal operating 
temperature.  The hottest they get on the street is about 260, and on the 
track 290.  I believe the operating manual states that 290+ is considered 
overheating.
