That will depressurize the line, but there is still fuel in the line that will leak out and run down your arm, splash in your eyes, etc. At least, IME. Since you're working with gasoline, work outdoors (or with the garage door open), have a fire extinguisher handy, be careful of sparks, and wear eye protection.
