Well after years of A2 GTI ownership I have bought an
Audi A4 1.8t quattro and the VW has got to go for
financial as well as driveway room issues. I am
listing this on VW Vortex also, if anyone can suggest
other places to list this I would appreciate it.

For Sale
1987 VW GTI 16 valve
$2600

While this car is 16 years old it is an excellent and
fun to drive car. It has spent the majority of its
life in Raleigh NC and has always been adult driven.
If you are looking for an A2 GTI this would be an
excellent car to consider! I have driven this car on
the track once and autocrossed it probably 6 times; it
has not been beat on.
Car is located in Needham, MA (near Boston). This has
been a loved and well cared for car. I just picked up
an 1997 Audi A4 1.8t quattro and the driveway ain't
big enough for the two of them!

gas shocks)

* Stereo – no head unit – speakers are Boston
Acoustics Pro 6 series with woofers and tweeters in
the doors and tweeters in the dash, 6x9 speakers in

a small go-kart trailer

been recovered in heavy duty black leatherette (vinyl)

clock and oil pressure. Ash tray has been removed

repainted 2-3 years ago

Super Trapp tip

spoiler and side moldings

Known Problems:
* Windshield washer switch is intermittent, wipers
work fine
* Parking brake tends to stick in cold weather
* AC doesn’t work; requires a new evaporator (interior
part) and recharging
* Right door needs a new vapor barrier (easy to do
with duct tape and sheet plastic)

Issues:
* Not a problem but this had a roof mounted ham radio
antenna. It has been sealed with a small rubber plug
made for this purpose
* Timing belt should be replaced in the next 5-10,000
miles (sooner is always better than later on these)

Recently replaced parts:

pads
* Front wheel bearings
* Catalytic converter
* Plugs, cap and rotor
