you may be able to take his insurance company to arbitration, i took
nationwide to arbitration and beat for about 2200 when my brother wrecked my
87 gli years ago. He got the ticket (he shouldn't have) so my insurance
company didn't want to go after them. we got to meet with an arbitration
board and it was us verses the other person't insurance reps. we killed
them, they were nearly speachless when we presented our case (complete with
many photos, accident reconstruction using using actual measurements just
scaled down evenly on poster board. my brother was a civil engineer major
so he had all of the tools for drawing it up and scaling everything down
perfectly. 2200 wasn't much, but the car had 195k on it, and i had only
paid 2500 when i bought it 3 years earlier with 138k on the clock. the
arbitration panel was very fair.

i would fight them if i were you, it sounds like you would win easy.

Subject: [a2-16v-list] Anyone know where I can published braking
distances

Hello all,

I am having a dispute with another guys insurance
company. I was wondering if anyone knew if they every
publishe the stock braking distances for a 91 gli. I
know car & driver does it from 60 mph, but does anyone
do it from a slower speed, say 25 or 30mph?

For those interested: Here is the deal. I am
traveling down the road. This guy pulls out from a
stop sign without looking(the snowbanks were high). I
brake and swerve right, but still clip his back
corner. Filled out all thier paperwork, and now they
are covering it, but want to split the damage 60/40
saying I was somehow negligent due to the fact I hit
his rear quater? What should I have done, hit him
square in the door? Anyone have any advice for me?
Next time I'm getting a lawer, cause the some ins.
co's are scumbags. I mean this is a legitimate claim
and they are trying to shaft me.

Tony
