Just had a conversation w/Techtonics a couple days ago, they sell a repair
part made to repair the connection flange from the the factory dual downpipe
to the catalytic convertor. Seemed like it was about $30. Maybe worth
calling them to see if it will work for you.

I want to replace my downpipe flange. The one for connection of
the cat. I believe the downpipe originally had an integrated
flange. Perhaps mine had given up at some point and someone
replaced it with and aftermarket three piece replacement flange.
Now time has taken it's toll and it has rusted enough not to
allow proper tightening of this connection. Where can I get this
flange? Are they universal or VW specific? I stopped by an
Advanced auto and the guy said he did not have anything like
that. I then call NAPA and was told they had nothing specific,
but might have a universal if I knew all the proper dimensions.
