Make sure your tires are not low on air. Make sure your car is tuned up. Don't use the air conditioning. Also, don't do racing starts and try to slowly roll up to stoplights and time them so you don't have to fully stop. I've found that lower rpms (without lugging it) in top gear are the best way to improve mileage. I usually get 28-32mpg. One day I had to put the baby spare on to replace one of the rear wheels. I had to be at work 20 miles away, so I drove very slowly (55-60mph, people were flying around me here in Dallas). The mfa was showing 37mpg. Laters, Brian -- 1989 GLI Wolfsburg Ed.
