They are smaller are smaller by both the length they stick out from the car
and by the height. You will see when you can compare the US to the euro.
Each is abbout 20 pounds or something like that so there is some weight
savings with them too. They are like tin foil though as the europeans don't
have the impact standards that we do. Also, you have to modify the brackets
on the front bumper to fit it and the rear uses 2 (or maybe 3) less bolts.
I was able to fit them both all within a few hours.

Euro Bumpers Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2003 20:35:31 -0400
Ok, so I'm having my GLi repainted in a couple weeks. As one tends to do
when undertaking a large project like this, I'm thinking of all kinds of
upgrades/changes to make. One of the upgrades I'm pondering is switching
bumpers (hey, they've gotta take them off to paint anyway). I was poking
around on RPI's website the other day and stumbled on MKII euro bumpers
(http://www.rpi-equipped.com/accessories.htm - scroll down to the MKII from
RPI section).
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with these on their car? What is
the difference b/t the euro bumpers and the stock, small bumpers that are
on the car now (besides the obvious euro plate cutout on the front bumper)?
Any experience, etc. would be appreciated. Anyone know if these bolt right
up, using existing mounting points?
Thanks all,
Renard
