Last night while driving I noticed a slight "Thump" sound from the front, driver's side. As I drove further the occasional "Thump" became more frequent and seemed to occur when I was decellerating (without braking), or began to brake.
The thump sounded similar to when the disk-style bushing on the front control arm was worn so bad that the control arm banged up against the underside of the car on acceleration. I was in a bumpy parking lot making a few right turns and the thump became very pernounced and constant. Could this be a wheel bearing problem or a CV joint problem? 2 years ago I replaced the tie-rod ends and ball joints with TRW (VW OEM) parts. Thanks, Mark Reda.
