Michael, I've removed 2 A2 transmissions and both times I had the same thing happen. In my case I swore I had ALL the bolts removed BUT there were 2 small bolts on a thin plate that I had overlooked. Yes I did the same thing twice. =) The two jobs were separated by about 5 years. Anyway...in both cases, once all the bolts were removed, the transmission released very easily.
If you can't find the elusive bugger(s), try gently prying at different locations to help locate the bolt. There will be more resistance as you pry near the bolt. If there really are no bolts left, a long pry bar can provide enough persuasion to get it started. As long as it's not hanging by it's weight on the main shaft, there's really nothing but bolts to hold it on. Hi all, Well I'm back on getting this tranny out atleast temporarily. I have been under all around back, top and bottom. Looks like every bolt is out but.. It only seems to separate about a 16th of an inch. I see this much space all around but that's about as far as it will move. Even the hidden bolts that you see only after you drop it down are out. I'm stumped?? Do I need to beat on it with a rubber mallet? Thanks Again Mike 89gti 16v 92 camaro 00 jeep _______________________________________________ a2-16v-list mailing list [email protected] http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list For list archives, see listinfo link above.
