Yep. If you're careful you can just flip it up out of the way without taking anything off that's attached to the upper manifold. Make sure and clean both surfaces off real good. Thanks greg. I noticed the Bentley says 18 LB/Ft so I'll make sure I don't sneeze while tightening it. Other than that, is it as straight forward as I'm hoping? My main concern is the intake manifold. I was planning on taking the top part off and leaving the rest connected to the head. Is that the way to go? -----Original Message----- From: Greg Overman [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 29, 2003 4:11 PM To: 16V Group; Hauptmann, Eric Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] 1991 Jetta GLi valve cover gasket I would use a little silicon on the half moons and at the bottom corners where the gasket L's and the humps (on the ends). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Has anyone done one before? If so, anything I should look out for? I've done one on my old 8V with no problem but I'm just a bit concerned about removing the intake manifold. I've ordered the valve cover gasket kit and the intake manifold gaskets (just incase I need them), but is there anything else that I might need? Has anyone had a manifold bolt break on them? Just want to make sure I have all the gotchas covered as the tech inspection is Friday night at 4 and I won't start working on the car until Friday morning.
