You should only need to remove the upper manifold half to replace the valve
cover gasket. Put something like a clean rag in each of the holes
temporarily after you remove the upper half, to keep anything from falling
in. The upper half nuts/studs usually aren't so tight or corroded that they
are hard to remove. Make sure none of the old gasket is still stuck to
either surface, etc. Like Greg said, don't overtighten.

I would use a little silicon on the half moons and at the bottom corners
where the gasket L's and the humps (on the ends). DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.

Just found that my Valve cover gasket is leaking and I need to replace

before my DE event this Saturday. Has anyone done one before? If so,
anything I should look out for? I've done one on my old 8V with no

but I'm just a bit concerned about removing the intake manifold. I've
ordered the valve cover gasket kit and the intake manifold gaskets (just
incase I need them), but is there anything else that I might need? Has
anyone had a manifold bolt break on them? Just want to make sure I have

the gotchas covered as the tech inspection is Friday night at 4 and I
won't
start working on the car until Friday morning.
